T is for … Tree
This basswood tree lives near the boundary between the Sleeping Bear Dunes and the forest that borders the dunes. The dunes are living things in that they are always moving and trying to take over more space. They extend about a mile inland from Lake Michigan. This tree has been hanging on against the wind as it continually tries to reshape the dunes for many years. So far the tree is winning. What a root system!

Beautiful shot. The tree looks somewhat frail with its multiple narrow trunks and yet it's beating the dunes! Great post.
